‘Slumdog Millionaire’ has certainly created more interest amongst Indian film technicians and given birth to a new momentum for collaborative film projects. At the same time the film has been successful in putting a new spotlight on poor kids who are immensely talented.

This has set the ball rolling in many people coming forward to lend a helping hand to these little ones. Anil Kapoor too has joined the band wagon of people who sincerely want to make a difference in the society.

The veteran actor has donated the money that he got for working in ‘Slumdog Millioniare’ to a charitable organization called “Plan India”. The organization works for providing a better life to the underprivileged children. The actor’s own life story inspired him to donate the money.

The Bollywood star says “I can identify with the character of Jamal Malik of ‘Slumdog….’ It is almost the same thing because I started from a very simple background. Not slums exactly, but a 200 square metre cubicle with common bathrooms”.

We had already informed that two leading designers Ashima and Leena Singh revealed their plans for starting an institution called “Jai Ho Foundation”. The designing duo has roped in the kid actors Azhar and Rubina to walk the ramp at the upcoming “Wills India Fashion Week”.

If the privileged decide to lend a helping hand to the underprivileged, then slowly but surely India will be rid of poverty. We hope this is just the beginning!
